Energy costs continue to eat up a disproportionately large share of American family budgets, particularly for low and fixed-income families. These are the findings of a new study released today by the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity (ACCCE).

The annual assessment based upon data from the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Census Bureau, shows that half of American families are spending nearly 20 percent or more of their total household income to cover energy-related expenditures.

  • 2.3.10

The following statement was released today by the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity President and CEO Steve Miller after the White House announced the creation of a federal inter-agency task force on carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology. The task force will be led by U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu and will include the Environmental Protection Agency.

President Barack Obama today stressed that the United States must develop clean coal technology to help ensure America’s competitiveness in the global marketplace. Appearing before a group of federal lawmakers in Baltimore, President Obama reportedly said, "If we’re going to be going after some of these big markets, they’re going to be looking to see: Is the United States the one that’s developing clean coal technology? Because if we’re not leading, those other countries are going to be leading."

  • 1.27.10

"The President has made it clear to all Americans that jobs and economic recovery are of the utmost importance.

We agree with President Obama and look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to support investments that will maintain and create much needed jobs.
