Steve Miller – President and CEO
Steve is the president and CEO for the American Coalition for Clean Coal Electricity, a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the use of coal – America’s most abundant, domestically produced energy resource – to generate electricity. ACCCE’s staff is engaged in advocacy at the federal, regional, state and local levels, and manages a national communications effort to inform and engage the American public. This communications effort was recognized as the national “Grand Marketer of 2009” for public policy issues by the American Association of Political Consultants. ACCCE is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and has regional offices around the nation.
He is a Kentucky native and graduated from the University of Kentucky and the UK Law School. Steve played key roles in Brereton Jones’ campaigns for governor and lieutenant governor, and served as Bill Clinton’s organizational chairman in Kentucky for the 1992 presidential campaign.
A veteran with 30 years of experience in the arenas of politics, government and social policy, he has established a record of supporting public policies that advance environmental improvement, economic prosperity and energy security. Steve also served as the president and CEO of the Center for Energy and Economic Development (CEED) and was also at the forefront of creating the Americans for Balanced Energy Choices (ABEC) campaign, an integrated public education campaign to increase awareness of the crucial role that electricity from coal plays in driving a robust economy and an improved quality of life for millions of Americans.
